Q:  What’s the news?

A:  Scali Inc. has sold the Scali Manage business to Platform Computing.  This includes the full Scali Manage product and related technologies, all key sales, support, development personnel, and all customer support obligations. 

Q:  Why did Platform acquire the Scali Manage business from Scali?  

A:  Platform has a successful cluster management offering with Platform Open Cluster Stack (OCS)*.  With the acquisition of the Scali Manage business, Platform is accelerating its strategy to be the leading provider of an integrated HPC infrastructure software solution.

Q: What are Scali’s plans for Scali MPI Connect?

A: With the sale of Scali Manage to Platform Computing, our team will focus on our ongoing commitment to deliver the highest performing MPI product line in the industry.  Our customers and partners will see continued enhancements to Scali MPI Connect, allowing them to take advantage of leading interconnect and multi-core technologies to build high performance clusters.

Q:  What are Platform’s plans for Scali Manage?

A: Platform’s immediate plan is to ensure all customers are fully supported in their ongoing use of the Scali Manage product.  Platform intends to continue to sell, support, and enhance Scali Manage and has retained all key sales, support and development personnel to enable them to do this effectively.  In addition, Platform will commence work on integrating Scali Manage with Platform LSF.  In the long term, Platform intends to integrate key features from Scali Manage and Platform OCS to create a single, unified, best-of-breed product.  Platform will release a unified product roadmap following market requirements discussions with Scali Manage and Platform OCS customers and partners. 

Q:  How does this acquisition affect Scali Manage customers?

A:  Scali Manage customers will be fully supported by Platform.  Platform has retained all key support personnel, and will continue to support Scali Manage on all current platforms. In addition, Platform will continue to sell Scali Manage and all support contracts will be honored by Platform.

Platform intends to continue to enhance Scali Manage per the current Scali Manage roadmap and will commence work immediately on integration with Platform LSF.  Existing integrations with other workload managers will continue to be supported. 

Scali Manage customers will benefit from future product releases from Platform, which combine the best features of Platform OCS and Scali Manage into a best-of-breed product. Contact Platform Support or Platform Sales for more information.
