Scali Selected as Cluster Management Solution for HP Unified Cluster Portfolio Customers offered broadest range of choice with HP Cluster Platforms while assured of simplified cluster management with Scali Supercomputing 2004, Pittsburgh, November 9 - Scali, a leader in high performance clustering solutions, today announced it has teamed with HP to deliver Scali Manage and Scali MPI Connect software solutions as a featured offering in HP's Unified Cluster Portfolio. This modular portfolio offers customers true flexibility and choice when configuring the best cluster solution for their needs. The foundation of the Unified Cluster Portfolio is factory-assembled, pre-tested HP Cluster Platforms, featuring HP ProLiant and Integrity servers, choice of interconnects and multiple operating systems. By selecting Scali's for cluster management solution , HP is enabling its customers to simplify their clustering stacks while maintaining the ability to choose between a broad range of leading software and hardware platforms. Scali's cluster management and MPI software is designed to reduce the complexity of running a mix of platforms and interconnects within a Linux cluster environment. HP and Scali have worked together to certify and optimise the Scali software on the new HP Cluster Platform and the software is available immediately, pre-installed on the HP servers. "Clustering requirements throughout the industry are becoming increasingly complex and diverse," commented Bjrn Skare, president and CEO of Scali. "Scali software dramatically eases system management for customers that build cluster solutions from a range of hardware and software combinations. For those customers that choose the route of using certified partner software on their HP Cluster Platform, Scali is HP's choice for cluster management. This is strong affirmation of Scali's leadership position and further strengthens our long-standing, global relationship with HP focused on enabling our customers to address the most complex challenges of Linux clusters." "The Unified Cluster Portfolio has been launched to simplify cluster technology and to support the broadest range of choice. Our close relationship with Scali is focused on the simplification and standardisation of clustering solutions for our global customers, making the integration of Scali software with this platform a natural and obvious extension of this," stated Bruce Toal, HP director of marketing, High Performance Technical Computing. "The HP and Scali collaboration is highly valued by our joint customers and has brought great success across many of our server platforms. We expect this to grow further with Scali as a featured option for the HP Cluster Platform within the Portfolio." The University of Georgia's Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC) has recently deployed two complex commodity clusters based on hardware selected from the HP Unified Cluster Portfolio. These systems will help scientists develop vaccines for many bacterial infections and diseases by simulating the reactions between carbohydrates and antibodies. Dr Robert J. Woods, CCRC, University of Georgia, commented: "Scali Manage and Scali MPI Connect, combined with the HP Cluster Platform, have provided us not only with a powerful and complex solution designed to meet the needs of the CCRC, but also with a cluster environment that is easy to design, build and manage. We now have much more time to spend on our experiments and furthering our research into vaccine design." Scali Manage and Scali MPI Connect will be distributed alongside the HP-MPI solution. Scali Manage is configured to seamlessly install HP-MPI in cluster environments.
